On Saturday, May 1st, residents from the Taghkanic Community Cleanup Crew met at Town Hall to clean their 2 mile portion of State Route 82. Cleanup begins at the Taconic Convenience Store and goes 2 miles south on both sides of the road. This is part of the NYS Adopt a Highway program. The Taghkanic Community Cleanup Crew has been participating in the program for 6 years, taking it over from Taghkanic Neighbors.
This year's participants included organizers Jose and Diane Rodriguez along with Elizabeth Craig, Doug Craig, Meridith Glabman, Chris Tallackson, Jeff Tallackson, Erin Edwards, Joanne Klein, Linda Swartz, Tom Mirabelli, Jean Feinberg, Augusto Quiros and Eve Kaplan. They picked up 22 bags of garbage along the route.
Taghkanic Community Cleanup Crew is required to complete 2 pickups a year, typically done in the Spring and again in the Fall. Everyone is welcome to join! The next cleanup will be sometime in October. FMI: email Diane Rodriguez @ pathogenfree58@gmail.com
