NOTICE The Taghkanic Fire District Board of Commissioners will hold a regular meeting on December 2, 2025 at 7:30 p.m. at the Taghkanic Fire House, located at 631 Old Route 82, Taghkanic NY.  The purpose of this meeting is a regular monthly review, ongoing matters, budget, district elections and district operations.  Members of the public are welcome to attend. There will be an opportunity for community input as part of the agenda.  Questions should be directed to: tagh.fire.

The Public Works Committee met on Wednesday, November 19th, and recommended the temporary closure of the Gallatin Station from December 1, 2025, through April 10, 2026. This decision is necessary due to a severe staff shortage, which has made covering Saturday shifts increasingly difficult. For several months, the station has been operating with only one attendant, which is unsafe and unsustainable. The Solid Waste Department has added this closure to its website. Please cont
