Darshan, Paul and Singh are back!
A beautiful new CITGO Station has taken the place of the old Getty Gas Station on Route 82 in our Business District.
Darshan, her husband, Paul, and her brother, Singh, began operating the Getty Station in 2010 and quickly became a welcome and vital part of our town. Many of our town’s people could be found there on any given day getting a cup of good coffee and a breakfast sandwich, or buying newspapers and lottery tickets. And, of course, it was a great place just to hang out and chat – a little like the country store of days gone by!
The Getty Station closed in March of 2010 for what was supposed to be about 8 weeks of renovations, and it finally reopened as a CITGO gas station in September. Darshan, Paul and Singh were sorely missed during their extended absence and we are very happy to see that they are back! The new station is beautiful and well-lit with modern, faster-working gas pumps, including the addition of diesel. A Grand Opening celebration will be held once some final fixes have been completed.
And there’s even more good news for Taghkanic’s Business District! Darshan and her family have purchased the Old Miller’s Tavern nearby and plan to reopen it as a restaurant. For now, they are living there, so they truly are our neighbors! Stop in at the CITGO Station and say hello!
The T-Gazette will keep you posted about the Grand Opening of the CITGO Station and any developments regarding the Old Miller’s Tavern.
