Do you have some repair skills? Can you spend a few hours on a Saturday to help your neighbors? Then come join us at a Repair Cafe. It's fun.
Repair Cafes are free community events where your neighbors bring their broken but beloved items, and volunteer repair coaches help you FIX THEM! Repair Cafes are held around the year at locations throughout the Hudson Valley. Right now, we are looking for fixers who would like to help out at the next Repair Cafe, being held at the Claverack Free Library on May 16 from 10am to 1pm.
WHAT KINDS OF ITEMS GET FIXED?
LAMPS • VACUUMS • CLOCKS • CHAIRS • ELECTRICAL ITEMS • SMALL APPLIANCES • DIGITAL DEVICES • CLOTHING & TEXTILES • DOLLS • STUFFED ANIMALS • TOYS • KNIFE & TOOL SHARPENING • LAWNMOWERS • JEWELRY • AND MORE!

Over 75% of items get fixed – but even when they don't, we have a good time trying!
WHY WE DO IT
• To transform our throw-away economy one beloved item at a time
• To reduce how many items go into the waste stream and reduce our carbon footprint
• To preserve traditional repair know-how & skills and pass them on
• To show the people who have this knowledge that they are valued
• To feed our curiosity about "the way things work" & have fun!
• To foster community sustainability and resilience
If you have general or specialized repair skills to share with your neighbors and would like to participate as a volunteer, please contact Doug Craig (knife and tool sharpening) at doug@taghkanic.org or Thea Schoep (Director, Claverack Library) at director@claveracklibrary.org.

Anyone able to re-string a small beaded necklace.? It's costume jewelry, but I like it very much. I bought the new wire and new clasps but can't get around to doing it...
