Tomorrow, Sept. 17th, the Columbia Land Conservancy and members of the newly formed Taghkanic Community Forest Committee will be hosting the first gathering of volunteers who have committed to the role of land stewards. If you are interested in learning more about becoming a land steward, we encourage you to come and join us!

DETAILS

Land Steward Orientation at the Taghkanic Community Forest on Wednesday, September 17, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. We will park and meet near the tree planting area. For now, the nearest address is our neighbors': 1330 County Route 27, Craryville, NY 12521; there will be signs with the CLC logo by the entrance, directing you to veer left at the fork rather than entering private property. Click here for more precise coordinates for our meeting place.

What’s involved: We will walk up to one mile along the woods road (packed earth terrain through the forest). The group will stop often to discuss future volunteer opportunities and work together to install a boot brush station! We will find meaningful work for people of all abilities.

What to bring: Please bring a water bottle and wear weather-appropriate clothing and footwear.

Please let Patrick know via e-mail (Patrick.Knapp@columbialand.org) if you'd like to join us.

On behalf of The Columbia Land Conservancy and the Taghkanic Community Forest Committee, thank you again for registering, and we look forward to seeing you at the event!
