Taghkanic Community Forest Kickoff!

Last Saturday was a big day in Taghkanic! Area residents planted more than 1200 trees in the soon to be formally established Taghkanic Community Forest. This was truly an event where the community came together - nearly 100 people showed up and planted a large variety of native trees and shrubs.
Columbia Land Conservancy will soon acquire more than 500 acres located in East Taghkanic. Although owned by the CLC, this Community Forest will be managed by a group of local stakeholders. There will be opportunities to serve as members of the Management Committee as well as Forest Stewards. Here is the link to learn more about these roles and to complete an online application: https://columbialand.org/get-involved/volunteering/tcf/

For those of you who missed out on Saturday's planting party, we're going to get the last 500 trees in the ground next Wednesday, May 28th, at 1pm. Come join us and be a part of this great kick off of our own Community Forest. Click here to register:

Thanks for being a part of this great community event!
