There will be a Special Election on Tuesday, May 4 (noon to 7 p.m.) at Town Hall, 909 State Route 82, to determine whether the Town of Taghkanic Highway Superintendent should continue to be an elected position, or if the elected office should be abolished and replaced by an appointed position, managed by the Town Board.

NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a Special Election of the residents and taxpayers of the Town of Taghkanic, County of Columbia, State of New York (the “Town”), will be held in the Town on the 4th day of May, 2021, at which the polls will be kept open between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., for the purpose of voting by ballot upon the following proposition:
Proposition No. I
Shall the elective office of Superintendent of Highways of the Town of Taghkanic be abolished as of December 31, 2021, and the appointive office of Superintendent of Highways of the Town of Taghkanic be created effective January 1, 2022, said appointive office to be a two year (2) term of office and said office to be held by a resident of the State of New York?
The polling places at such election will be as follows:
Taghkanic Town Hall, 909 State Route 23, Ancram, New York 12502, Taghkanic Election Districts No. 1.
All duly qualified voters of the Town of Taghkanic shall be qualified to vote at such special election.
