Extreme Heat Advisory – Cooling Centers & Heat Safety

With dangerously high temperatures expected over the coming days, we encourage everyone to take precautions to stay safe during this period of extreme heat. If you do not have access to air conditioning, cooling centers are available nearby. Please call ahead before traveling to confirm that the location is open and serving as a cooling center.

Please remember to:

  • Drink plenty of water, even if you do not feel thirsty.

  • Limit outdoor activities during the hottest hours of the day.

  • Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.

  • Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle.

  • Check on elderly neighbors, family members, and anyone who may be especially vulnerable to the heat.


Know the signs of heat-related illness. Heat exhaustion can include heavy sweating, weakness, dizziness, nausea, and headache. Heat stroke is a medical emergency. If someone becomes confused, loses consciousness, or has a body temperature above 103°F, call 911 immediately.
