Help Us Identify our Community Assets!

As part of the update to the County Hazard Mitigation Plan, we are reviewing all of our "community assets". For our purposes, community assets fall under four categories: societal, infrastructural, economic, and natural environment. We've identified many such assets - schools, churches, natural areas, the fire houses, town hall, etc.

If you know of any asset we may be unaware of - a structure with historical significance, (ie; Millers, West Taghkanic Diner) a natural area with unusual features (ie; Pinnacle Rock) or an asset of some other cultural or societal significance, please e-mail Betsy (betsyalbertfortaghkanic@gmail) or Linda (ljsnop918@gmail.com) for inclusion by March 15, 2024.

Including locally identified, at-risk community assets is an essential step to identify potential projects that will reduce hazard vulnerabilities in Taghkanic. This list of assets will help to set the stage for what projects/solutions might later be developed within the Mitigation Strategies section of the Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP)

Thank you for helping us update the community asset data for Taghkanic!

BE SURE TO COMPLETE THE NATURAL HAZARDS SURVEY BY MARCH 8TH- designed to document local perspectives about natural hazards in Columbia County and impacts to our assets. (survey link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PVRWV2C
