The Taghkanic Conservation Advisory Committee (CAC) announces 2 New Walks!
Walk #1: ..... June 30 2021 at 4:30 P.M> at Rhinestrom Hill Audubon Center.
The Forest Management Research Center at Rhinestrom Hill and the Taghkanic CAC will host a 1 hour walk to look at the experimental research program devoted to best practice forest management and carbon storage conservation principles. The walk will be on an old dirt road with some mild ups and downs. The walk is limited to 20 participants. Register with Larry Kadish (518-851-9675) or Tony LaSalvia (518-951-7271).
Directions: At the Town Highway Garage, turn onto Pumpkin Hollow Rd. Bear left onto Pumpkin Hollow Rd. North. Left onto Rt. 7, past Copake Lake. Just after 7A joins 7 (from the right) turn right onto Cambridge Rd. Follow this road through the gate to enter Rhinestrom and proceed to the parking area.
Walk #2: ..... Wednesday, September 29 at 4P.M. at Wally Farms.
Wally Farms and the Taghkanic CAC will host a walk/talk on modern farming. The 1000 acre farm is on Crow Hill Rd. in Taghkanic. The walk will be about an hour over uneven ground with some uphill. Again, the group will be limited to 20 and to register, please call Larry Kadish (518-851-9675) or Tony LaSalvia (518-951-7271).
Directions: Starting on County Route 27 at the Taghkanic Highway Garage, proceed along 27 heading toward Copake. Crow Hill Rd. is a dirt. road on the left between New Forge Rd. and Tompkins Rd. Park on the left about 200 yards in.
