Taghkanic Firefighters Honored

On Saturday, October 8th, Kozel's Restaurant was the setting for the Taghkanic Fire Company's first annual banquet since 2019. Our community boasts a large corps of long serving members – and in 2021 we honored our first Woman Firefighter of the Year.

The members of our Volunteer Fire Company serve our communities 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We currently have a force of 24 active members who protect Taghkanic and Gallatin, and respond under mutual aid to Ancram, Elizaville, Livingston, Craryville, Churchtown and any other community when requested. The Company also has a support staff of approximately a dozen members.

While the Fire Company has a robust membership, additional members are always needed, both as active firefighters and support staff. Joining this vital part of our community has benefits both personal and financial, as the Taghkanic Fire Company participates in a rewards program that offers benefits to members based on years of service and active participation.
