Town of Taghkanic Proudly Participates in Hudson Flag Day 2026: Honoring the Flag, Our Veterans and America’s 250th Anniversary

TAGHKANIC, NY — The Town of Taghkanic proudly participated in the Hudson Flag Day 2026 - honoring the Flag, our Veterans and America’s 250th Anniversary, and joining communities throughout the Hudson Valley in honoring our Nation's history and heritage.
The Town's participation was coordinated by Town Historian Nancy Griffith, whose efforts helped organize a memorable and historically significant representation of Taghkanic. Maryann Proper and her husband further contributed to the celebration by appearing in period costume, helping bring history to life for attendees.

A special feature of the Town's presentation was a horse and show carriage generously provided by Brain Lynch, Owner, Lynch Farm of Connecticut, adding an authentic historical element to the festivities and drawing the attention of spectators throughout the event.

The Town also recognizes Gabriella Coons for proudly carrying the Town of Taghkanic banner during the celebration. Gabriella is especially notable as the first female Eagle Scout in Columbia County and served as an outstanding ambassador for
the community.

The Town Board extends its appreciation to all volunteers and participants who contributed to the success of the event. Their dedication and community spirit helped ensure that Taghkanic was well represented during this important commemoration.
